Nostalgia and Video Games
ABSTRACT is a small business located in Richmond, VA that sells products inspired by retro video games from the late 1990s to 2000s. The brand was created for people to embrace and enjoy nostalgia through video game media.

There is a very strong passion for gaming at ABSTRACT. While we mainly sell shirts and stickers now, my goal is to bring people together to reminisce about the games that everyone grew up on, when times were simpler. As adults, we all have responsibilities to handle. Some people like to hold onto the past with shirts like old rock bands and tour shirts. However, I want to use ABSTRACT not only as a stylistic choice, but as a design that can remind you over time of a time when responsibilities didn’t exist.

The First Creation
The journey of creating the 'STRAKT T-SHIRT, let alone ABSTRACT, began with a class project on abstractions. Immersed in the world of retro video games, I meticulously researched and assembled a mood board, drawing inspiration from the nostalgic visuals. The process of translating these references into a unique shirt design was an incredibly engaging and evocative experience, sparking the inception of the ABSTRACT project. This endeavor allowed me to delve into the universal appeal of exploring my childhood, laying the foundation for the creative endeavor that followed.
